Hello to all my readers! I’ve been thinking and praying about doing a private study group on Facebook. And I’m excited to say that one of my good friends will be joining me!
We are still working on getting everything ready to go, but the study will be called, “Suffering: A Mirror or a Window?” You can read below to find out more. If you are interested and would like to join, please feel free to contact me here (Just scroll to the contact form at the bottom) or comment on this post.
Are you or someone you know going through a hard time? Do you want to help them but don’t know how? Do YOU need help?
Suffering touches us all, whether personally or through someone we know. And we have a choice – Suffering puts either a window or a mirror in our lives. We can choose to stare in the mirror and see only our pain, our hurt, our trial reflecting back. Or we an choose to open the window so others can look in upon our suffering and see Christ.
1 Peter 4:13
“But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”
Now, I’ll be honest, from the very moment I posted the first thing about this study group, I have had horrible doubts. I don’t feel up to this, I don’t really know anything about suffering, I can’t help people, I don’t want to be open, and on and on…. And, it seems that there has been an all out attack on my family. Things just keep being thrown at us. And I wonder, how much more can we take? I shouldn’t be the one heading this up, I should be one who is here for the help!
I’ve found that we don’t talk about our suffering. We don’t share. We don’t try to help each other up. Sometimes, we just don’t know how but a lot of the times, we just turn our noses up and say “I would never do that, act that way, make that decision. I’d never turn my back on God the way she did. I’d be a better Christian.” I’ve been guilty. But if this trial has taught me anything, it’s that life is hard. And I’m not the only one going through something difficult. I need Jesus more than anything. He alone is enough. But He gave us each other. And the verse is still in the Bible, “Bear ye one another’s burdens AND SO FULFILL THE LAW OF CHRIST.”
So, no. I’m not qualified. I’m definitely not an expert. I don’t know more than you. I just need help. I need a hand. I need a burden bearer. Just like you. So my hope is that we will learn together. Pray together. Encourage together. And maybe in doing so, we can show others that it’s ok to be a broken Christian. God can do the mending if we let Him. And hopefully, through our brokenness we can lead others to Christ.
Our plan is to go live once a week. Videos will be saved in case you miss them. More details will be added to the Facebook group and we will announce the start date there. I hope that this page can be a source of encouragement and prayer requests and lifting each other up. So, come join us!!
